A horses stomach evolved to graze, and small amounts of forage frequently is the ideal diet. With the enormous amount of choice at your fodder store of grains, premixed feeds and supplements, it can be hard to sift through the information and advice to work out what is best for your horse.
My first tip - feed more hay!! Most horses are able to live comfortably and healthily off of pasture or hay. A general vitamin/mineral supplement can be added but my basic advice to people is to feed an appropriate amount of hay/pasture to keep a horse's weight in a healthy range.
This isn't always appropriate if your horse is either overweight, or gets enough work, that they cannot maintain their weight from forage alone. This is when you may need some extra guidance.
I offer 2 different dietary analysis depending on your circumstance
SIMPLE DIET ANALYSIS $25
Simple analysis. I will look at what you are currently feeding, your horse's environment, and your goals. I will then provide a basic overview of an appropriate feeding program for your situation. This option is appropriate for most spelling, lightly ridden, pony club horses.
DETAILED DIET ANALYSIS $50
More detailed analysis. I will look at what you are currently feeding, your horse's environment, and your goals. I will then provide a detailed analysis including vitamin/mineral and electrolyte analysis and offer advice on any deficiencies or other improvements I can see which will contribute to your horse's health and performance. This is an appropriate option for medium to heavily worked horses, performance horses, or to address particular problems you may be having with your horses performance.
